Sanding and Abrasive Technology

Eduardo Nunez has been with 3M for 10 years.  His expertise includes many types of industrial abrasives and techniques.  He works with customers, in "process development,"  to determine their specific needs and develop a strategy for which 3M materials and applications would work best for them.

Rather than just a PowerPoint/lecture presentation, we will be able to try various abrasives on our own materials. 

He plans to bring a variety of different abrasives, including sandpaper, abrasive pads, cloth-backed abrasives, and rotary brush-type polishers.  Since woodturners frequently use spray-on finishes, he will also bring a sprayer that he thinks will be of interest.  He has suggested a "hands-on" type of interactive demo, where he can allow club members to try various 3M products in a realistic woodturning situation.  

Members are encouraged to bring projects of all types, including wood, acrylic, wood and resin combination, etc, in any stage where finishing is needed.   Feel free to bring something just turned, still with tool marks, or one between coats of finish, or maybe one that you want to improve or change the finish.

Please bring any items that you would like to try some sanding on. We are limited to a 12" lathe.

Auction Of Cindy Drozda Items

We will start the evening with an auction of the items from the demo that Cindy Drozda did for our clubs.  Minimum starting bid, $50.
